The desert taught him how to survive. A trapped Sand Cat will give him a reason to do more.
Eighteen-year-old Krick Rdyen has spent four years following his father’s lessons: conserve water, read the land, and never cross the dunes unprepared. He knows how to find shelter. Finding somewhere to belong is harder.
Then a cry leads him to Rhael, an injured Sand Cat caught in a concealed snare. She speaks, questions his decisions, and needs help reaching the home her captors took her from. Krick agrees to travel with her, hoping there might be a place for him there, too.
Their road runs through a world buried beneath the sand.
