Author Spotlight : Susan Marie Shuman

Susan Marie Shuman is a freelance writer, and editor, who currently resides in the wilds of Birmingham, AL. She shares her life with four spoiled cats, several friends (not all of them imaginary) and one husband. When she’s not working, Susan enjoys horseback riding, reading, taking her cats for a spin in their pet stroller, and taking naps. An ex-bartender, recovering crash test dummy, and all-around late bloomer, Susan graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2004 with a BA in English. She minored in Russian. Long-range goals include visiting Israel, the Czech Republic, and Liechtenstein. Susan is also planning to launch a micro-nation which would be called either Suzannistan or Eastern Suzanorovia.

We asked Susan about writer’s block, and how she deals with it. Her response shows a real sense of humor. “Yes, and I’ve developed a healthy respect for it. In my case, it usually happens when I try to avoid writing something that I know must be written. Other times, I think my muse simply gets lazy or wanders off. To goose her into action, I find that finger painting is a great way to get back on track. You use the other side of your brain, which somehow gets the creative juices flowing again. Plus, it’s fun. Also, I find that when I wear bizarre color & pattern combinations, mismatched socks, and/or wild make-up, it helps me tap into parts of me previously unknown. Some of my best writing happens when I’m wearing plaids & polka dots and blue metallic eye shadow. No, I do not leave the house like this.”

She has a website! Go check her out. She has published three collections of short stories/poetry. Bad Meringue & Other Stories : A Collection of Short Stories & Poetry is one of them. Her genre ends towards Satire, The Human Condition, Unrequited Love, Fantasy. She writes poetry in various forms, short stories, and is currently working on a memoir.

Susan decided to go indie because she did not know how to go about getting an agent and CreateSpace had just come out so she thought she’d try it. When asked why she decided to be an author, she responded “A friend’s father was a writer and I was fascinated by him. I loved the way he spoke, his thought process; I’d never met such an exotic person!”

We are so pleased to meet Susan and felt like you would be as well.

Author Spotlight : Charles Kelley

Today we introduce Charles Kelley and his Kings of Chaos Motorcycle Club Series.

We asked what genre he preferred to write and he said General fiction is probably the easiest classification, but action/adventure would likely be a more accurate category. Sounds like a fun read.

We looked into his web presence… His webpage and his facebook page. We found very professional looking pages.

We asked him about how his writing started. He told us…. My love of reading is what got me thinking about the idea of writing, but it was really when I discovered Patrick J. O’Brian that I got serious about giving it a shot. He’s a local author that I stumbled across when I was on a weekend trip to West Baden Springs, Indiana. I devoured several of his books and learned more about him, which stoked my thoughts of trying to write my own stories. Ideas have been flowing ever since. I started writing about nine years ago, and have been publishing for the past four of those nine.

When asked about writer’s block, he said “I’ve had a couple minor run-ins with writer’s block, but so far, it’s always been manageable (knock on wood). When it comes to writer’s block with my short stories, I just move on to another story to get myself unstuck. Usually shifting my focus to new characters and a different plot is plenty to get my creative juices flowing again. If it hits when I’m working on a novel, then I try to skip ahead to the next plot point and start from there. When I get back into a good groove, then I go back and bridge the gap.”

So far he has written a cookbook, a children’s book, three novels, countless short stories, and even a few poems. When asked about this variety he said it just depends what kind of mood he is in when inspiration strikes.

When asked why he is an indie publisher, he said “I was unfamiliar with the publishing process, and the more I learned, the more overwhelming it became. Self-publishing seemed to be the path of least resistance, and gave me a great opportunity to learn about the publishing process first hand. I’ve self-published my entire series of novels so far to help get established, then I may consider a more traditional route for my next projects.” We are going to definitely be watching him to see what comes.

Charles lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with a Boston Terrier named Sonny, and his wife and two young boys that have more energy than I can keep up with.

According to his wife and sanity, he has too many hobbies! He enjoys riding his motorcycle, working out, playing guitar, reading & writing (of course), watching TV and movies, traveling, and anything else that’s shiny and grabs his attention. Sounds like a good many of us.

Charles Kelley grew up in the foothills of southern Indiana. He fled the farm lands upon graduation from high school to attend Ball State University. After receiving a B.S. in Criminal Justice/Criminology, he started his career working with various criminal justice agencies. His writing career started modestly with a personal blog, which developed his love of creative writing, leading to his web page of short stories. From there, he has been involved in several writing projects with other authors such as Adam K. Moore, Christian Scully, Andrew Miller, and Jonathan Degler. Charles has been developing several of his own ideas, starting with his Kings of Chaos Motorcycle Club series. He currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana and is trying his best to raise a family, further his career, and develop his writing skills. Follow him on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ckwriting) and Instagram (@ckfiction) for more updates!

Author Spotlight Anne Belle

Fiction Author Anne Belle is quite the talent. She has a wonderful website, where she lists the books that she currently has out. She also has a YouTube channel where she reads such interesting stories.

Her bio from her site says :

Anne Belle was born Samantha Anne Branham in 1978 in Eastern Kentucky where she graduated from The Piarist School in Martin, KY and attended Eastern Kentucky University until 2000. She then took time to travel extensively throughout the United States spending time in Florida, Tennessee, and California before finally coming to rest in the great state of Texas where she now resides.

She was an award-winning essayist prior to turning her interest toward fiction. In 2006 she tentatively stepped into the water of fiction publication with a book that she later refined and released independently under her pen name. Her debut novel The Secret of the Storm was released in 2012 and quickly became a fan favorite. This was the beginning of the Slauson Cove Saga which continues today.

Anne’s primary theme in storytelling is meant to inspire others to embrace themselves and their own lives. She enjoys writing strong female characters who are thrust into circumstances they can’t avoid, usually with a supernatural or paranormal element at the focal point. These seemingly impossible things about themselves have often made them outcasts and they must learn their purpose and find their own way. Anne’s personal journey has been a great influence in her work having to overcome being n outcast for most of her life.

When she isn’t writing Anne keeps busy with various activities. She enjoys crafts, creating art in various mediums, swimming, and spending time with friends and family. She’s a dog-mom to her Chiweenie pup Pippin. Anne also enjoys art journaling and exploring other aspects of her creativity including performance art in the form of singing.

The author can be found in many places online. Including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In the summer of 2019 Anne is launching her first lifestyle blog attempt addressing creative living as a plus size single creative entrepreneur. That endeavor can be found at http://www.MakeMineBold.com.

We here at Fae Corps Publishing have been quite glad to know Anne. She is someone who we highly recommend that you check out.

Author Spotlight – Paul Lubaczewski

Today’s author spotlight is Paul Lubaczewski. He dabbles in Horror, Horror-Comedy,   Sci-Fi, Fantasy and writes mostly short stories and novels.

When we asked him how long he’s been writing, he had this to say: “Fiction about 4 years now. I was a reviewer before that, and wrote poetry and lyrics before that.” We also asked him why he started and he said because of his daughter Nik’s wedding. He wanted her to have something she could show people.

He is published and he chose to become an indie author because he didn’t know if it was a decision as much as something that just happened. Agents are harder to deal with and get answers from than publishers a lot of the time, so he just started querying indie presses instead.

He resides in Appalachia and has three cats: the Brothers Meow Charlie Sheen and Abaddon and there is also Elsa the Bride of Kittenstein.

We asked what hobbies he has when he isn’t writing: “Caving, music, reading, waterfalling, photography (urbex), it’s endless really.”

We also asked him if he gets writer’s block and his answer was “I keep multiple projects floating at all times, there’s always something I can make progress with.”

Where can you find this amazing author? Well right here at his website: https://lubaczewski.wordpress.com/ So get over there and show him some love!

Author Spotlight Tish MacWebber

Today we are looking at the amazing author Tish MacWebber. A lot of what you need to know is in her bio.

” Tish Mac Webber’s writing is her purpose, creativity is her passion, and jewellery designing is her pleasure.
She is the author who is Always Thinking… the jewellery designer who is Always Blinging…and her superpower is always being full of surprises!

#Tishspiration, her latest creation, is defined as the art of surprising yourself. She is inspired by the ocean, especially where the Atlantic Ocean kisses the beaches of Cape Breton Island, where her own story began.

Tish MacWebber, Always Blinging… her jewellery designing hobby is the latest addition to her website. Her speciality is creating one of a kind, custom designs for her clients. She loves to delight her customers with her interpretations of what they order, staying true to her gifts of being full of surprises, and putting her talents to full use.

In October 2018, her first book, From Where I am Sitting… A Collection of Cat Tales was published and is available on Amazon. It will be accompanied by her Limited Cat Tales Jewellery Collection, which can also be found on her website. Tish MacWebber is currently writing her second book, in which she will explore her concept of #Tishspiration. You can find more information about these and other projects at https://tishmacwebber.com/

Tish credits the inspiration for her first book to a friend who passed away due to cancer. However, she has been writing since school. She writes song lyrics, poetry, and stories. Currently the endearing adventures of an adopted kitten, Jazzy, dominate her blog.

She has been blogging since 2017. She wanted to share her music, and hopefully inspire others with her writing. She is a creative soul, who is fond of beads. She designs cute jewelry and is learning cross stitch.

She chose to be an indie author because it would allow her complete control over her work. She has found that there is a lot to learn about the process. She recommended finding writing support groups/communities either locally to meet your peers in person, or online to find others who can help you to achieve your goal of writing a book, if you are an aspiring indie author.

Her first book “From where I am sitting” is a collection of cat tales told by the cats. I found it to be so very fun to read. I think that you would as well. Tish will have a story in our anthology releasing soon, Under The Mists.

*Edit: Tish pointed out a small error on my part. She has been doing cross stitch for some time all ready. And the Jazzy chronicles are over on the coffee house writers blog . We are so very glad to be working with Tish. Show her love!

She’s been writing for approximately four years and does so because she has ‘an urge to scare” and wants to “explore the darker side of human nature.” She chose to be an Indie Author because she doesn’t like being told she can’t do something, so she pushes herself to proves others wrong.
