Call for submissions

We at Fae Corps use the blog & newsletter to spotlight amazing indie artists. We have asked for Indies to submit your work to be seen on Fae Speaks (Blog/newsletter). We got to talking about it and decided that we want to do a yearly anthology of the best of what is received. We will be pulling out of the ones that are submitted to the blog (we have been holding on to poetry recently to start the new year off properly.) So any art, poetry, flash or shorts that you would like to see on Fae Speaks… Send us at faecorpspublishing@gmail.com subject Fae Speaks we are not limiting topic or genre (with the minor exceptions of keep it blog acceptable… Mo major gore or erotica) The best from the 2021 selections will be in this anthology. You will see your work shared across social media as well.

In case you are unaware…. (All of the submissions must be in English as we are not fluent in other languages, but if you want to submit it also in another language with the translation it is acceptable.)

Art must be at least 300dpi jpeg or png. We can publish less on the blog/newsletter but it has to be this quality for book publishing. So if you want to be considered for the anthology, please be sure that the art is useable for such.

Poetry is not limited… But please it has to be edited. (No spelling mistakes or huge amounts of eye popping issues with the layout) Be aware that the anthology will have limited to the best of what is recieved.

Flash is up to 500 words. For this it should be a polished piece. If it is not it will be sent back unpublished with a request to fix the mistakes.

Shorts up to 5k word count. We can accept if it is slightly longer but we are not looking at publishing novella’s on Fae Speaks. Let’s use good judgement here. Again it should be publish ready. If it is not we will send it back asking for you to edit it.

Author Spotlight – Cait Marie

Cait Marie is a good friend, a wonderful person, and an amazing author. I have been lucky to work with her in Coffee House Writers. She is one of the busiest people I know. She works at Functionally Fictional and at YA Books Central. She also somehow manages to do a blog of her own.

She does all of this while in College, being a freelance editor, and producing her own books. I have personally been allowed to be one of her ARC readers in the past. Her books are so well written. I have definitely enjoyed what I have read by her.

When we asked her about what got her started, Cait had this to say. “I started writing one day partially out of boredom and partially because a book I read didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to. I decided to write my own book so I could include anything I wanted, but I had no idea at the time that I would end up here. I only wrote academically before that and hated it. However, I have always loved reading. My love of books is really what got me where I am today. It’s why I started Functionally Fictional, which led to me becoming involved in the book community.”

When asked why She chose to be a Indie, Here is Cait’s response. “Through Functionally Fictional, I work with indie authors to promote their books. Then I started working as part of the indie staff at YA Books Central, and I kind of fell into this amazing group of authors. They were so encouraging, and I saw the support they had for one another, and it really made me decide on this route. Plus, I like the control aspect of it all. It’s my book, and it’s getting out into the world how I want it to.”

About her hobbies and such ,”Most of my time goes to reading and writing, but I also love creating spreads in my bullet journal, painting, listening to music, going to concerts, and watching movies and TV.” When asked how she deals with Writer’s Block her response was “I don’t really suffer from writer’s block per se. It’s more that I have some days I just can’t/don’t want to write. I’m working on more consistent writing habits. For example, I am trying to write for an hour at least four days a week. I joined a group that does writing sprints four nights a week, which is helping a lot.”

Cait lives in Indiana with her two obnoxious cats – Koda and Azriel, Whom she loves greatly. We here at Fae Corps look forward to seeing what Cait Marie will be doing in the future. Be sure to check her current listings at https://caitmarieh.com/my-books/

Author Spotlight Beverly L Anderson

First I apologize to all of the authors who have been on hold for months. We had to showcase the anthology authors and this got put on hold as I was too busy to do what needed done. I am back at it. I will be going through one a week on Thursday until I get you all.

We are starting with the amazing Beverly L Anderson. Her answers to our questions tightly match the Bio on her Amazon page. And I found the Bio more fun…so I am sharing it. Her books look pretty and have some neat ideas behind them. She said that she, when faced with writer’s block just changes to something else until it passes.

Beverly L. Anderson started writing at the age of eleven, and when she did it was obvious she wasn’t going to stick to the every day. Her first story, written in a series of spiral notebooks, was about a kidnapping. There’s no surprise that these days, she favors the dark corners of the psyche over the happy and fluffy parts. To better understand the mind of her characters, Beverly specialized in psychology and counseling in school, and holds a master’s degree in the latter.

Beverly’s other hobbies include gaming of all types, transgender and autism advocacy, and writing fanfiction. She herself has gone on the journey of self-discovery in the last few years, finally pinning down her identity after nearly thirty years of searching. Coming out as bigender and pansexual was one of the hardest things she’s ever done, but it gave her the confidence to become herself even more. An autistic parent of two autistic kids, and an eclectic pagan, Beverly finds herself at odds with a lot of what society calls “normal”. Her interest in the BDSM community began as simple curiosity, but has led her to the road to finding a place for herself there as a switch.

We are glad to spotlight Beverly and hope that she continues to produce books to brighten this world.

Slamming Holiday!

So…Poets! we are going to do a celebration for Yule of the written word.

We are looking for video of slam poetry to fill the day with.

We want slam style spoken word.

We want to celebrate the Holiday with the magic of poetry.

This is not a paid call, it is just fun.

We are wanting to showcase not just the words, but the energy and magic of the poet as well.

Topic is unlimited, time is limited to no more than 20 minutes each.

We will post the accepted videos to the social media outlets all day of the 23rd.

We would like some that celebrates holiday magic, but we are only doing the restriction that it be spoken poetry, no vulgarity, no violent themes.  send videos to faecorpspublishing@gmail.com with the topic of YULETIDE POETRY SLAM!

Include in the Video an introduction and in the email a bio with links.

2020 has limited the ability to road trip, we are all feeling the closed in nature of being stuck inside. So use your imagination, where are you going? How are you getting there? What do you need to buy…Snacks? Drinks? Fuel? How fast are you going?
