Do you have anything published?

If you follow my blog then you will already know that my big plan for 2020 is to publish my debut novel.  Publishing a novel has always been my big dream.  I want to see my book in bookshops, online stores, on bookstagrams but not just one book, many.

I’m so focused on publishing my novel I often forget about my previous published works.  Today, I am going to delve down memory lane and share my previously printed work.

Articles

I was born in East London and raised a Leyton Orient Football Club fan.  My dad took me to matches every Saturday.  We would sit in the stands,  eating a hot-dog and listening to Tijuana Taxi and chanting, “Come on you Os!” and some other chants with naughty words that you wouldn’t believe crossed my lips.

The Os Fanzine were the first official publication to print my writing.  I was…

Publishing Stories

Have you been published on a literary collective, an eZine, a journal, or a book?  Go Dog Go Cafe wants to hear your publishing story.

Many of us dream of becoming published writers when we first start sharing our writing.  As new writers, however, getting published can feel as mythical as a unicorn.  You may ask yourself: Am I ready?  Where do I start?  What are my options?  We believe that your publishing stories can provide much-needed confidence, practical advice, and inspiration for the Go Dog Go Community.

We are currently accepting publishing stories via Google Docs.  We can’t wait to hear about your journey.

In what part of the world do you live?
North Carolina

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a native of Durham, North Carolina, where I live and write poetry. A husband and father, I find happiness in family, friends, reading, and of course writing. Though writing embarrassingly self-important poems since childhood, it was only at age 39 that I published my first collection of poems, Paint the Living, Plant the Dead.

Tell us about your journey as a writer.
I wrote poems for much of my childhood but, with the intrusion of adulthood, only sporadically wrote while my career took hold. When I lost a job unexpectedly in 2018, I turned back to writing, working on a novel and diving back into the world poetry, which has been therapeutic and rewarding. Though my unemployment was short, I could not shake…

you can see more up here

Read a book by an Indie writer that you enjoyed lately?!  Your support can make a world of difference for an independent writer.

Most indie writers only earn a few dollars per copy in royalties.  Seriously.  The changes in the publishing industry over the last decade have made it much, much easier for a writer to self-publish or get published with a small press, but recent estimates suggest that only 100 American writers can actually support themselves on their book royalties alone.  Indie writers are often responsible for the majority of their own book marketing and promotion and are doing everything themselves from writing, to editing, to ordering those fancy bookmarks, to scheduling their own book tours.

Here are some easy ways that you can help support an indie writer so they can keep writing the books you love.

  • Shout out their books on social media along with an image of…
