[i don’t wanna know/i’m glad i don’t know]

13 yrs old high in

the back seat and it’s only a

matter of time before

everyone here is fucked

song on the radio and it’s the

same one yr father was

singing when he fell down

the basement stairs, and it’s

good to believe there are

still some drugs worth

dying for

it’s this idea of the

future that

keeps me awake at night

the point where i end but

it keeps moving on

without me

John Sweet sends greetings from the rural wastelands of upstate NY. He is a firm believer in writing as catharsis, and in compassionate nihilism which, as luck would have it, has all the best bands. His published collections include NO ONE STARVES IN A NATION OF CORPSES (2020 Analog Submission Press) and THERE’S ONLY ONE WAY THIS IS GOING TO END (Cyberwit, 2023).

Our Saturday TBR

So we often have friends releasing new books. And we love to recommend them. Starting today, Every Saturday I am going to start recommending five new/newish releases that are on our TBR for you to read.

  1. If I keep doing this I will have to adjust the description for the post…This is the first book for Tish MacWebber – From Where I am Sitting: A Collection of Cat Tales I recently recommended her newest book Drop the Red Pen and this one came up in discussion so I had to list it too.
  2. I just love books set in the Appalachian Mountains. Tooth and Nail By Jessica Raney has the look of a good read in a great setting.
  3. Okay I was recommended one that I am interested in mostly because it seems to cover several genres all at once. Rescue (City of Kaus Book 3) by Dani Hoots  Kinda makes me want to look into the others in the series…
  4. The Boy With The Glow: Book Two Enhanced Being Series by Melissa Algood  Has an interesting premise. I wonder if it is as good as it sounds?
  5. This last one is a collection of tales. Tales of the Doomed: Fourteen tales of suffering and death by Len M. Ruth  Seems like it might have more than one thing to grab the mind.

Check back next week for more TBR recommendations.

and everybody knows

a fist clenched becomes your life,
and you learn to hate who you were

learn to hate who you are

your father’s biggest
disappointment, right?

your mother’s favorite junkie

one more goddamn ghost in a
half-empty house
just looking for a trigger to pull

Our Saturday TBR

So we often have friends releasing new books. And we love to recommend them. Starting today, Every Saturday I am going to start recommending five new/newish releases that are on our TBR for you to read.

  1. okay, I know I said that I was going to recommend new or newish releases…but I really need to talk about this one. Memory bound by A.R. Clayton We published a children’s book not too long ago. The writing style is amazing and makes me want everything that the author has written.
  2. LD Wosar just released Peacock’s Lament. It really does look so good.
  3. Want an occult noir read? Idaho black by Warren G. Larch looks to fit the bill.
  4. Need more adventures in your tbr? Wrong Way to Heaven by Kevin Pettway seems to offer misplaced adventures. that sounds fun to me.
  5. Lately, there’s been terms that I have been seeing in the reading and writing world that might be confusing to the ones that don’t read that genre. this includes Why chose. why chose is in the same vein as romance – with a polyamory twist. Here’s a good one – Beauty’s Beasts by Alex Hansonhttps://a.co/d/fTyYG2E

Check back next week for more TBR recommendations.
