SnapDragon Speaks: On The Fade.

Time is a funny thing. And by ‘funny’ I mean beautiful; relentless; healing. It’s always there. . . but then it’s gone. And as time passes, I see so many things begin to fade: My once vibrant head of hair slowly succumbs to a washed-out shade of brownish-gray. Sunburn. Scabs. Sadness. They are here for […]

May your wings soar
by Andrew McDowell
[author’s site]

May your wings soar into skies blue!
We knew it would come; it is true.
Oh, the times we had were the best,
Now we embark on a new quest,
Like all those before us who flew.

River we first saw, not we knew,
Overcoming and coming through,
When facing every new test,
May your wings soar!

Glad we made it yet so sad too.
I shall remember all of you.
Part of us remains in our nest,
Whilst we fly, above the rest,
Along rivers, into skies blue,
May your wings soar!

Book review: Maggie Cole – Roots of Vengeance (@MaggieColeAuth)

Connor had always loved for fun. Never getting attached, partying, but when he met Gia everything changed. For the first time ever he had wanted more. This woman was everything he could ever want and more. But none of it was real. It was all a lie. And he vowed never to be hurt again. As […]

I Wanna Stop Writing For A Living

I’ve been at this writing thing for almost a decade now, and only recently have I begun to notice the difference between writing for a living and making a living out of writing. This is just me thinking about quitting the former and chasing the latter.

I Wanna Stop Writing For A Living

Name her for a death (she is mine).

Name her for a death (she is mine).

Watermelon

Fruit of the vine of a different kind Encased in green and white rind Thick cartilage pulp protects the sweetness Cut through the rind for a sea of sweet goodness Red pulp encasing seeds of life Black and white they live without strife Spit the seeds and savor the pulp Melts in your mouth with […]

The Cranky Muse

Writing to Freedom's avatarwriting to freedom

They say to be careful what you wish for. I put the call out to Muse Brad to see if he would like to join our MuseFest and to ask if he might consider returning to write for this blog. I wanted to include him in our special celebration of muses. This is the response that came back from MB.

~

Halloween 8 years ago, just about when Muse Brad made his first appearance. A preview of coming nightmares!

~

Not you again. I thought I was pretty clear that I didn’t want to be bothered. You said you’re were doing fine without me so why are you pestering me again. Can’t a muse retire in peace? What didn’t you understand about “leave me alone”? Supposedly you’re a writer. You can figure out how to keep the blog going and leave me out of it.

And if I was to…

A Haiku Muse

My blogger friend Brad over at Writing to Freedom is having a birthday today. If you haven’t visited Brad’s blog, you’re in for a treat. He takes beautiful photos and writes poetry (often haiku) to complement them. He invited his followers and their muses to stop by. My usual muses are negotiating with a necromancer […]
