Author Spotlight : Charles Kelley

Today we introduce Charles Kelley and his Kings of Chaos Motorcycle Club Series.

We asked what genre he preferred to write and he said General fiction is probably the easiest classification, but action/adventure would likely be a more accurate category. Sounds like a fun read.

We looked into his web presence… His webpage and his facebook page. We found very professional looking pages.

We asked him about how his writing started. He told us…. My love of reading is what got me thinking about the idea of writing, but it was really when I discovered Patrick J. O’Brian that I got serious about giving it a shot. He’s a local author that I stumbled across when I was on a weekend trip to West Baden Springs, Indiana. I devoured several of his books and learned more about him, which stoked my thoughts of trying to write my own stories. Ideas have been flowing ever since. I started writing about nine years ago, and have been publishing for the past four of those nine.

When asked about writer’s block, he said “I’ve had a couple minor run-ins with writer’s block, but so far, it’s always been manageable (knock on wood). When it comes to writer’s block with my short stories, I just move on to another story to get myself unstuck. Usually shifting my focus to new characters and a different plot is plenty to get my creative juices flowing again. If it hits when I’m working on a novel, then I try to skip ahead to the next plot point and start from there. When I get back into a good groove, then I go back and bridge the gap.”

So far he has written a cookbook, a children’s book, three novels, countless short stories, and even a few poems. When asked about this variety he said it just depends what kind of mood he is in when inspiration strikes.

When asked why he is an indie publisher, he said “I was unfamiliar with the publishing process, and the more I learned, the more overwhelming it became. Self-publishing seemed to be the path of least resistance, and gave me a great opportunity to learn about the publishing process first hand. I’ve self-published my entire series of novels so far to help get established, then I may consider a more traditional route for my next projects.” We are going to definitely be watching him to see what comes.

Charles lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with a Boston Terrier named Sonny, and his wife and two young boys that have more energy than I can keep up with.

According to his wife and sanity, he has too many hobbies! He enjoys riding his motorcycle, working out, playing guitar, reading & writing (of course), watching TV and movies, traveling, and anything else that’s shiny and grabs his attention. Sounds like a good many of us.

Charles Kelley grew up in the foothills of southern Indiana. He fled the farm lands upon graduation from high school to attend Ball State University. After receiving a B.S. in Criminal Justice/Criminology, he started his career working with various criminal justice agencies. His writing career started modestly with a personal blog, which developed his love of creative writing, leading to his web page of short stories. From there, he has been involved in several writing projects with other authors such as Adam K. Moore, Christian Scully, Andrew Miller, and Jonathan Degler. Charles has been developing several of his own ideas, starting with his Kings of Chaos Motorcycle Club series. He currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana and is trying his best to raise a family, further his career, and develop his writing skills. Follow him on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ckwriting) and Instagram (@ckfiction) for more updates!

She then took time to travel extensively throughout the United States spending time in Florida, Tennessee, and California before finally coming to rest in the great state of Texas where she now resides.

She was an award-winning essayist prior to turning her interest toward fiction. These seemingly impossible things about themselves have often made them outcasts and they must learn their purpose and find their own way. When she isn’t writing Anne keeps busy with various activities. She enjoys crafts, creating art in various mediums, swimming, and spending time with friends and family. She’s a dog-mom to her Chiweenie pup Pippin. Anne also enjoys art journaling and exploring other aspects of her creativity including performance art in the form of singing.

Author Spotlight Tish MacWebber

Today we are looking at the amazing author Tish MacWebber. A lot of what you need to know is in her bio.

” Tish Mac Webber’s writing is her purpose, creativity is her passion, and jewellery designing is her pleasure.
She is the author who is Always Thinking… the jewellery designer who is Always Blinging…and her superpower is always being full of surprises!

Tish MacWebber is currently writing her second book, in which she will explore her concept of #Tishspiration. You can find more information about these and other projects at https://tishmacwebber.com/

Tish credits the inspiration for her first book to a friend who passed away due to cancer. However, she has been writing since school. She writes song lyrics, poetry, and stories. Currently the endearing adventures of an adopted kitten, Jazzy, dominate her blog.

She has been blogging since 2017. She wanted to share her music, and hopefully inspire others with her writing. She is a creative soul, who is fond of beads. She designs cute jewelry and is learning cross stitch.

She chose to be an indie author because it would allow her complete control over her work. She has found that there is a lot to learn about the process. She recommended finding writing support groups/communities either locally to meet your peers in person, or online to find others who can help you to achieve your goal of writing a book, if you are an aspiring indie author.

Her first book “From where I am sitting” is a collection of cat tales told by the cats. I found it to be so very fun to read. I think that you would as well. Tish will have a story in our anthology releasing soon, Under The Mists.

*Edit: Tish pointed out a small error on my part. She has been doing cross stitch for some time all ready. And the Jazzy chronicles are over on the coffee house writers blog . We are so very glad to be working with Tish. Show her love!

Serena Mossgraves

Today’s Author Spotlight is the talented Serena Mossgraves.

Serena

She is one of our darker authors, specializing in weaving horror and dark fantasy short stories and novels that will have you cowering under your covers at night.

She’s been writing for approximately four years and does so because she has ‘an urge to scare” and wants to “explore the darker side of human nature.” She chose to be an Indie Author because she doesn’t like being told she can’t do something, so she pushes herself to proves others wrong.

When asked if she has hobbies she told us this: “Yes. I enjoy crawling around on the interwebs looking for spiders to pet. I enjoy listening to creepy videos and horror memes. I enjoy chemical experimentation.”

She lives in the deepest reaches of the demonweb pits and when asked about family or pets, she said ‘Does the ghost chained in my attic count?”

As for dealing with any kind of writer’s block, she said “Just beat it with a hammer!”

She is published (look for her books here: Amazon ) and she has a website, which you can find here: Serena

I hope you all enjoyed learning about Miss Mossgraves and that you will check out her stories if dark and spooky is your thing!

Announcing Under the Mists

Desiree Jensen

Welcome to today’s Author Spotlight! Today we have Desiree Jensen, or Des as her friends and colleagues call her. She has been writing urban fantasy, pulp horror & slam poetry under the name of D. Gabrielle Jensen for 15 years but has been writing in general for 35 years. She started writing ‘because she just did. It was in her blood’.

When asked why she became an indie author, she explained that it is because she wants “the freedom to be the final decision on my work and to be able to work according to my own timelines, not someone else’s.”

She has a website for anyone that is interested in checking her work out (and you really should!): D. Gabrielle Jensen .

She resides in Colorado, USA where she lives with two cats – a teen mom and her kid, who are now 11 and 10 years old and enjoys many hobbies when she is not busy writing: music, concerts, crochet, jewelry making, graphic design/merchandise design.

We asked her if she gets writer’s block. She answered, “I do. It depends on how bad it is. If I can make words, I try to just push through it. If I can’t, if I find myself staring at a blank page for too long, I try something else. Something creative, go for a walk, work in the garden to reconnect my soul to the Earth.”

We were so happy that Ms. Jensen filled out our questionnaire! It’s so nice to find out about other Indie Authors. We hope you all enjoyed reading about her and that you go check out her website and show her some love.

Author Spotlight : Deedra Nichole

Multi-talented Deedra Nichole writes, edits, and does wonderful art. Her Young Adult, and New Adult stories are delightful for the reader. Her poetry is powerful. She is also an excellent editor when she is not writing tales to excite. Her words have a nice whimsy that is so rare to find in this cynical world.

In choosing to be an Indie Artist, Deedra Nichole is gracing the world with a piece of herself to delight and entertain. She takes control to produce the highest quality in jer work and make it best for her readers to enjoy.

Family is a huge part of Deedra’s life. She currently resides in Kentucky with her Husband to be, Onas, and their children.

She has a website, currently for her editing business. She is currently working on revising her books to bring new covers, for a fresh new look. Such books include the Louise Green Series, and Immortal (a volume of poetry). Let me tell you, I have seen the new covers. They are so beautiful.
